Throwback. Me and Coco. She wont admit it but I am her favorite and this picture is my evidence, exhibit A, entered into the record.
Things yall need to notice about this picture, in order:
- Somebody’s mama got us dressed for this. Red jumper, navy jumper, white ruffle collars on both, bows in the hair, the whole coordinated Sears portrait situation. That was not us. That was a grown woman with a plan.
- The one in the front got her mouth open mid-word. Already talking. Already had something to say before the flash went off. Yall know who that is.
- The one in the back got the hand on the little one like she holding her in place. Cause she was. Somebody had to.
- Look at the smiles tho. Both of us. Not a fake picture day smile, a real one. Whatever was said right before that shutter clicked, it was funny, and it was probably her fault.
We took a picture like this last month. Same pose. Her behind me with the hand out like I might run. Me in the front talking. Thirty something years and the roles aint changed one bit. She the one holding it together and I am the one making noise, and we both know which one of us is the favorite.
